Member Spotlight: RIMEX
RIMEX Supply Ltd. has been in business since 1976.
The company was started by Chris Weston, who began his journey with a stack of small wheels in the back of an old borrowed pickup truck and a desire to make a difference by building better wheels. Chris' mission in 1976 was simply to give his customers what they wanted and needed.
Chris was a forward thinker and attuned to the changing marketplace – as mining trucks grew, the wheels had to be larger and more robust. He revolutionized the way wheels were manufactured by introducing the practice of fully machining the critical components that make up a wheel.
This innovative manufacturing style produced wheels stronger than any others on the market that could withstand the extreme stresses being put on them by larger earth-moving equipment and new tire technologies. Chris's early efforts and hard work were not without setbacks and bumps in the road. Still, after ten years immersed in the business, building a reputation for quality and growing his relationships with mining companies, he put everything on the line. He opened a manufacturing facility in Surrey, British Columbia. As the demand and the size of vehicles continued to grow, so did RIMEX and its product offerings.
Located in Zone 2, RIMEX moved into Acheson in 2008 because of the central access to major highways, large mining and construction companies, trailer manufacturing and trucking companies. RIMEX is an international company with many offices and manufacturing plants on five continents across the globe. Their expansion and global reach have continued yearly, growing to over 500,000 square feet worldwide.
RIMEX was built to support the mining industry but has since grown to support trucking, agriculture, and all industrial requirements. Everything from farm equipment, industrial trailers, truck fleets, tire shops, forklifts and construction equipment. They are recognized as the world leader in mining wheels for safety and efficiency. RIMEX also has TyreSense, a comprehensive tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for mining and industrial applications. The system improves safety and reduces costly repairs with features like Asset Management. It offers critical insights into the location, use, cost, and performance of assets over their entire life cycle to support effective asset management for any size operation.
The RIMEX group strives to design, build and supply industry-leading products and services that meet the demands of the customers' operating environments. They want to be more than a supplier to the customers; they want to be a valuable partner recognized for the qualities they bring to the relationship. The business was built on listening to the customers' requirements and responding with products that address those needs.
RIMEX believes in giving back and hosts a 'Giving Round the World' annual fundraiser supporting Leukemia and Lymphoma research and treatment. All RIMEX locations worldwide hold a "Chris Weston Day" to honor the life and memory of RIMEX founder Chris Weston, who passed away in 2017. Since they started, they have raised over $200,000 globally. At RIMEX, they pledge to make a meaningful difference by giving round the world!
